If you are a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and your life is surrendered to Him, you expect to experience a life that is free from a lot of the things that our parents or forefathers struggled with. However, we must recognize the vicious cycle of bondages that was inherited through parents, forefathers or self imposed curses.
In Lamentations 5:7, the scripture says, "Our fathers sinned; they no longer exist, but we bear their punishment. So, we see from scripture when our forefathers have lived in iniquity and was rebellious against God, the punishment transfers to the children up to four generations due to the unrepentant hearts of forefathers.
"The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. Numbers 14:18
God has paid the price for us all to be free from curses of all kind through Jesus Christ. However, it doesn't happen automatically. We must do what is necessary through repentance, pursuing God with all our heart and seeking deliverance from these bondages.
